jordan asked: I remember in the Sims 2, you could get free building materials (such as clear flooring, custom wallpapers, and other cool things not in the game) on the Sims 2 Exchange. My question is, in the Sims 3, does the Exchange have the same functionality?

solaritea asked: I’ve seen structures made out of boards or panels that were made by gluing several layers of cardboard together until they were about an inch thick. I’m trying to find more info about doing this, but am having a hard time. I figure there must be a name for it and if I knew the name I could find more information about it!
Edit: This is a homemade material that is made from whole pieces of scrap cardboard (generally used boxes) that are glued one on top of another. Basically you flatten a box and cut an edge so you have a single layer of box and glue these together, one on top of the other. This makes a board that you can then use to build with.

rich miller asked: I am building some seating for the front of my boat. I want a good wood like material that I can use for the base of my seating. Something that will not warp or mold in a very damp environment. It has to be in a sheet of 44×50 inches and at least 1/2 inch thick.

Jason J asked: I am going to build a large haunted house to run in the fall. I need a very basic structure that will enclose about 4000 square feet. No insulation, no wiring, no plumbing. Basically a big barn or warehouse type structure. Would corrugated tin, concrete blocks, or wood be the cheapest way to go?

joe friday’s grrl asked: My mom’s about to have an oak tree taken down in her back yard. It’s humongous, and they will be bring in two trucks, with one doing all the chipping as it’s coming down. I think it would be a shame for all those wood chips to be taken away if they can serve some useful purpose. I have no way of compressing them into anything like sheets or boards for building. But I was wondering if there’s any way to compound the wood chips with another material(s) and a bonding agent to form blocks of some sort using a RAM or block forms. I was thinking I might at least experiment, since I’m planning to build a green home in the future, and have sufficient space to store the raw material and finished products.
